Being the tallest mountain peak in the world, Everest Expedition is one of the most widely followed adventure activity amongst the trekkers and adventure seekers. Scaling the Mount Everest has been the most cherished as well as challenging task for the trekkers from across the world. Every year, thousands of foreign trekkers come here in Nepal for Everest Expedition. Everest Expedition can be done both from the southern side that is in Nepal and northern side that lies in neighboring Tibet. After 1950, China has closed the Tibet border of the Everest to outsiders and since then Nepal has begun welcoming foreigners to the Everest Region. Following that, the southern route to Everest via the Khumbu Valley has become immensely popular among the climbers. Mount Everest was first scaled in 1953 by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa of Nepal and Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand from the South Col. Climbing Mt. Everest certainly is a lifetime opportunity and experience. However, mountaineers during the Everest Expedition have to come across many seen and unseen obstacles including high altitude, harsh weather conditions and even exhaustion, and hence they ought to be careful about going about the expedition.

The Mount Everest has been attracting and fascinating so many mountaineers across the world every year. As the itinerary is quite long, it takes more than two months for the entire expedition to complete. Prospective Everest climbers are suggested to come prepared both physically as well as mentally. As much it requires physical stamina and endurance to climb the Everest, it also requires enough patience and mental fortitude to actually get to the top of the world’s tallest peak and return safely. However, the expedition to the top of the Everest will undoubtedly be the most thrilling experience you will ever gain in your life, and something you will cherish in your memories for many more years.

On the third morning, you will board a flight to the Lukla Airport, also commonly known as Tenzing-Hillary Airport. It is a wonderful mountain flight and in around 30 minutes you will reach Lukla while enjoying the breathtaking views of the mountains during the flight. After landing at Lukla, you will take light breakfast and start your trek to Phakding. After around 3 hours of mild trek, you will reach Phakding village where we will be staying overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 04– Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 6 hrs

After having breakfast in the morning at Phakding, we resume our trek and continue to hike along the Dudh Koshi River while ascending through Himalayan Pine and Doedar Cedar forests. Given the increasing altitude, you will be hiking slowly while enjoying the surrounding natural beauty of mountains. After almost six hours of trek, we finally arrive   to the popular village of Namche Bazaar. The village of Namche has remained a historic trading point for the Nepalese and Tibetan traders who exchange salt, dried meat and other consumable and textile items. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Namche Bazzar.

Day 05– A day for acclimatization at Namche

The fifth day of the trek will be spent in Namche Bazaar acclimatizing to the altitude and the conditions. A day for acclimatization is strictly advisable for prospective trekkers as they can also spend a day in Namche visiting the local bazaar of Namche, talking with Sherpas and learning about their culture. Or if you are not much tired and are ready for a few hours of trek, then you can also go to the Everest Hotel for great panoramic view of the Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse and others. Located at an altitude of 3900m, Everest Hotel is the hotel that is situated at the highest altitude in the world. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 06- Trek to Tengboche (3867m) 5hrs

After a day of acclimatization in Namche, we resume our trek and climb further uphill. The trek now gets difficult with increasing altitude and the trekkers are advised to go about the trek in a slow and mild manner. Plenty of hotels are found along the way and the tourists will have the opportunity to take a short break if they want. After almost five hours of trek we reach Tengboche. It is a village in the Khumbu region of Everest and is located at 3,867 meters. Tengboche is mostly popular for the important Buddhist monastery, Tengboche Monastery, which happens to be the largest Gompa in the entire Khumbu region. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 07- Trek to Dingboche (4530m) 6hrs

After having tea on the seventh day morning, we will resume our Everest Base Camp Trek. Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Nuptse and other Himalayas will play hide and seek as you climb along the trail. At some point the mountains will come quite close while at some other points they will appear farther away. Finally, after more than six hours of trek, we reach Dingboche, a small village in the Khumbu region that falls in Chukhung Valley. Dingboche is a popular stop for trekkers and climbers who are headed to the Everest or who are returning from Everest. As there are plenty of hotels and guesthouses, the entire village rests heavily on tourism. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 08- A day for acclimatization in Dingboche

As we have covered quite a lot of altitude, we will be spending the eighth day of the trek resting at Dingboche for acclimatization. Acclimatization is very important as the sudden rise in high altitude might cause trekkers high altitude sickness and respiratory problems. You can stroll around Dingboche, talking with the local Sherpa villagers and sipping special tea prepared by the Sherpas for trekkers. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 09- Trek to Lobuche (4940m) 5hrs

On the ninth day of the trek, we reach further close to get that elusive glimpse of the Mount Everest as we continue uphill through the trail. Lobuche is the last settlement area before the Everest Base Camp and some old-fashioned guesthouses are available there. Many traders who come via Tibet also stay at Lobuche for the night before they resume their travel the next day. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 10- Trek to Everest Base Camp (536om) 4hrs

The next day we wake up in the morning, take tea and breakfast and resume our journey. We head towards the Everest Base Camp located at almost 5400 meters of altitude on the 10th day. 3-4 hours trek from Lobuche is enough to take us to the EBC. Unfortunately, the actual positioning of the Everest is such that the actual summit is not quite visible from the Base Camp, though we get amazing glimpses of the peak. We spend overnight at the EBC, in a camp.

Day 11-12: Rest and preparation

As our Everest Expedition now starts formally from the Base Camp, we spend another couple of days at the Base Camp preparing for the expedition and making sure you have all the equipments needed for the expedition. Acclimatization to the height is also another reason why we spend two more days at the EBC as it is very important to get used to the altitude. High altitude sickness is the problem most commonly faced by the trekkers and Everest climbers.

Day 13-58: Ascent of Mt. Everest

On the 13th day of the expedition, we start our journey from the Base Camp. As we will have Sherpa guides, carriers and other helpers, there is no need to worry and fear about the climbing. Our team members will make sure that you will have no such difficulty in climbing the Everest. It will nearly take 45 days to reach the summit of Everest from Base Camp and return. It will surely be one of your life-time moment when you reach the top of the world.

Day 59: Return to Base Camp

Following the successful ascent of the Everest, we then climb down the peak and return to the Base Camp. On the 59th day of the expedition itinerary, we will be back to the Base Camp after the successful ascent to the top of the world.

Day 60-62: Return trek to Namche Bazaar via Dingboche and Tengboche

For the next couple of days, we will be hiking down from the Base Camp to Namche Bazaaar via Tengboche and Dingboche. Tengboche, Dingboche and Namche will be the place to stay overnight during the return trip.

Day 63: Trek to Lukla

From Namche, we hike for around 6 hours and reach Lukla where we will be staying overnight at a guesthouse preparing for tomorrow’s flight to Kathmandu. If you have some time left after reaching Lukla, you might as well choose to take rest as you will be exhausted from the Everest expedition.

Day 64: Fly to Kathmandu

The next day, you will board a flight to Kathmandu from Lukla. In around 25-minutes, you will reach the Capital city of Kathmandu. Overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 65: Departure, Farewell!!

Your Everest expedition ends on the 65th day of the travel itinerary as you will board a flight back to your country from Kathmandu.
