Kathmandu Durbar Square
Located at the core Kathmandu, Kathmandu Durbar Square depicts the astounding views of antique temples, palaces and courtyards. Built in 14th century, Kathmandu Durbar Square is also known as Basantapur Square and Hanumandhoka Square. It used to be the Royal Residence of Nepal before the family shifted to Narayanhiti Palace. The coronation ceremony of king is observed at this place. It was included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997.
Located 5km northeast of Kathmandu at the edge of Bagmati River, it is the most sacred Hindu Temple in Nepal. Believed to have been built in 17th century, Pashupatinath is considered one of the oldest Hindu temples in Kathmandu. Expanded over the vast area, it is clustered with temples, idols, rest houses, hermitages and inscriptions. Non Hindu visitors are not permitted to enter inside the temple premises.
Boudhanath is known to be the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. It is also among the most sacred stupa outside Tibet for Tibetans. Observe the colossal white dome and sparkling golden spire. The all- seeing eyes of Buddha exist at the top of the dome .The base is prepared out of three layered pedestal in the shape of Mandala. Experience the Tibetan lifestyle in this stupa premises.
Also known as Monkey Temple, Swayambhunath is the oldest Stupa in the world. It is located on the top of the hill that offers panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley. Legend has it that the Saint Manjushree discovered this idol 2500 years ago as a lotus on an ancient valley lake.
