Lower Dolpo Trek is an adrenaline rush of sensational trekking into the isolated unique terrains of Dolpo realm that commences with traversing pretty little villages. Day01: Arrival in Kathmandu:
Our representatives from ‘Nexus Travel Tours’ will be there at the Airport, ready to greet you as soon as you land at the International Airport of Kathmandu. A pleasant drive through happening streets of Kathmandu will lead you to the hotel where you will be briefly explained about the itinerary package before you collapse at the comforting bed in our hotel room.
Day02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu:
It is allocated for Full Day Guided Sightseeing Tour in and around Kathmandu Valley whereby we will visit many UNESCO enlisted World Heritage Sites including Pashupatinath Temple Complex, Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath, Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. Time permitting; we will pay homage to Changu Narayan prior to returning back to our hotel where evening dinner awaits you.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Nepalgunj:
An hour long scenic flight with engrossing aerial views of mountains and terraces will lead us to Nepalgunj that is the hub of Western Nepal and a city of prime significance existing close to the Indian Border in Western Terai. You will stay overnight in a hotel inNepalgunj.
Day04: Flight to Jhupal, Trek to Dunai:
Jhupal that bestows epic views of snow shrouded Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains can be accessed via 45minutes flight from Nepalgunj. From Jhupal initiates the sensational trekking experience as we pursue the trail through terraced fields all the way to Bheri River that tapers near gorge to make it to Dunai, the admintrative headquarter of Dolpo Region.
Day05: Trek to Tarakot:
Stretching along the southern bank of the river, the trail crosses the bridge and prolongs through gorges and pretty small settlements to forest lined with pine trees which further opens up at Tarakot, strategically important town perched atop the hill that once served as a fort.
Day06: Trek to Laini:
The trekking trail on 6th day commences with a walk along Tarap Chu River. Crossing the river over bridge, the path extends further through farm lands and terraces moving past villages and undergoing series of ups and downs to eventually lower down to Laini where we will be staying overnight.
Day07: Trek to Nawarpani:
Plodding right across the tapered gorges of Tarap River, the trekking trail lowers down to Chyugur Khola whence it continues to Nawarpani located at 3545m altitude. The whole trekking takes 5hours to complete.
Day08: Trek to Do Tarap:
Escalating uphill, the trail reaches Kamattarka existing at the confluence of Tarap Chu and Lang Khola. Walking past the gorges, we will walk past the bushes of wild roses to Do Tarap, a village of Mongol origin primarily dominated by Bon Po and Chaiba Sects.
Day09: Acclimatization Day at Do Tarap:
9th day is taken as the rest day to synchronize our bodily functions to the High Altitude of Dolpo Region. Experts advise mild walking rather than lying idle to evade from the effects of High Altitude Sickness. A short hike to Buddhist Gompa and Bon Gompa can be arranged or we could visit the nearby villages and be familiar with the culture and ways of life of these ever smiling natives.
Day10: Trek to Numa La Base Camp:
Leaving the plain valley of Tarap, the route elongates along the Tarap Chu River to the Village of Tokyu that abodes the Monastery venerated by Chiba Sect. Clambering further up, we will reach to Numa La Base Camp in about another 3hours time.
Day11: Trek to Pelung Tang via Numa La Pass:
Strenuous trekking through the steep off the beaten path will ultimately lead us at the apex of Numa La. Indulging in the enchanting views of the moonscape terrains and mountains including Dhaulagiri, we will lower down to be at Pelung Tang where we will be staying overnight.
Day12: Trek to Dajok Tang via Baga La Pass:
It’s time to face the second High Pass which means undergoing yet another perilous trekking uphill to be at the summit of Baga La Pass located at 5070m altitude height. Amusing ourselves in the mesmerizing views of the stubbornly arid landscapes and the snow shrouded Kanjirowa Peak, we will continue descending for another 3 hours to be at Dajok Tang.
Day 13: Trek to Ringmo:
Traversing the verdant pine woods supporting Himalayan wildlife, the route continues through the alpine meadows and plain lands and undergoes few ups and downs to finally make it to Ringmo where we will be staying overnight.
Day14: Rest Day at Ringmo explore She Phoksundo Lake:
Chasing the track through forest of Cedar will in the end take us to Shey Phoksundo Lake. We will spend the night at a tented camp in She Phoksundo Lake admiring the pristine ambience and gazing at its turquoise blue water that reminds us of Eden.
Day15: Trek to Shyanta:
With early breakfast, we will head downward towards Chepka. Pursuing the colossal overhanging cliffs, the route passes through dispersed settlements prior to ascending uphill towards Shyanta where we will be staying overnight.
Day16: Trek to Jhupal:
The path prolongs upward through Sulighat passing through birch trees to the ridge, a cautious lowering from where will lead us all the way to Jhupal.
Day17: Flight to Nepalgunj Flight to Kathmandu:
45 minutes of scenic flight through mountains will transit us to Nepalgunj. We will then board another plane from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu where it all started. From airport, we will be transported back to our hotel. Evening dinner will be hosted to commemorate the successful trekking of Dolpo Region accompanied by Nepali Cultural Show.
Day18: Departure from Kathmandu, Farewell!
Our representative will assist you in last moment preparation and will drive you back to Airport from where you will return to your beloved ones. We hope to see you again.
